Chinese as a foreign language major is an undergraduate major set up by the Ministry of Education to train professional personnel in Chinese as a foreign language. In 1981, the major of Chinese as a foreign language took the lead in recruiting the first batch of undergraduate students nationwide. This major is still the only major in the whole country which continuously and massively enlists the undergraduate students majoring in Chinese as a foreign language. In the past 20 years, the College of TCFL has provided more than 50 colleges and universities with a large number of TCFL talents, and made great contributions to TCFL education. The major of Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) is to recruit Chinese undergraduates with a four-year academic system and to develop knowledge and skills in Chinese language, literature, culture and foreign languages, and Chinese as a foreign language teachers who have certain language teaching theories and skills, as well as professionals who are engaged in foreign affairs and other work.
